What you should do

Many out of state "storm chaser" contractors "piggy-back" on the licenses of local contractors after paying the local contractor thousands of dollars for the use of their name and their license so they can say they are "local".

Be careful.  One "storm chaser" advertises themselves as a "hometown" contractor when in fact, their home town is over five hundred miles away.  Many "storm chasers" advertise offices in many states but are only in those states until all the damage has been repaired - buyer beware!

Be wary of any contractor who offers to bury your deductible, discount the price of your repair job below what the insurance company pays (including your deductible) or offers to pay you for signing one of their repair agreements:

This questionable practice by some contractors and their commissioned sales reps exposes them to risk of losing their licenses and also exposes they and their customers to potential insurance fraud charges.  The homeowners insurance company can also demand that the insured re-pay the difference between what the insurance company offered and what the homeowner actually paid to have the repairs done.

If any contractor represents themselves to you as an "insurance claims specialist" or something similar, demand they show you documentation proving actual insurance industry experience.

If they can't, they're not a specialist!  You wouldn't trust someone who said they were a financial, legal, medical, dental or other specialist who couldn't show proof so why would you trust some contractor making such an un-verifiable claim.  When they start making excuses, show them the door.

If you believe you may have hail damage but have not yet filed a claim:

As thousands of homeowners with hail damage learn every year, it is never a good idea to allow an insurance adjuster to inspect your property for hail damage without a real insurance claims specialist like 3RSystems owner Larry Burtis present during the inspection to make sure that you get paid for all of the legitimate damage.  Make life easier and call us before filing your claim.  It never costs you more but usually increases your insurance settlement substantially.

If you have already filed a claim but an insurance adjuster has not yet inspected your property for damage:

Call us and let us know when the adjuster has scheduled his or her inspection.  With your authorization, we will prepare the damaged areas for presentation to the insurance company adjuster and supervise the insurance adjusters inspection on the scheduled date and time.

If an adjuster has already inspected your property for hail damage:

Many homeowners make the mistake of calling in their claim, getting an assessment from their insurance companies adjusters then getting estimates based on what the insurance company initially offers to pay.  99% of the time, the initial insurance company damage assessments (what they say they will pay for the wind and hail damage) are substantially lower than what they should be.  For example, if the insurance company should have paid $15,000 but only offered $10,000 and the homeowner gets estimates on the $10,000 insurance offer, the homeowner will forever lose the other $5,000.  "Free" estimates are fine for retail roofing and siding quotes but not for wind and hail damage.

To make sure you have been paid for all of the damage, call us before moving ahead on your claim.  With your authorization, we will audit your initial insurance company "scope of loss" report (what they offer you) to make sure you have been paid for all of the damage.  If necessary, we will assist you in scheduling a re-inspection of your property to make sure that any damage missed by the insurance adjuster and/or inexperienced contractor or omitted from the insurance company's "scope of loss" report is paid for.

Call us at your convenience for a free ten minute consultation:

Will tell you what to expect from your particular insurance company, how long the process should take, what to be aware of, what to do if/when your insurance company attempts to underpay or deny your claim and generally help you through the process that many who have already gone through it before without the help of an experienced expert like 3RSystems have said they never imagined what was involved or how troublesome the process could be.
